Livery Guild Completes Waystation Construction

PaxOku, Tokuno, Chesapeake (PaxLair Times) – January 2, 2011 – by Ashlynn – Construction of a network of livery stations in various townships was finally completed throughout the realm yesterday by the livery guild. These humble looking structures will no doubt prove extremely useful to residents of the townships and any travellers passing through.

Lady Mesanna used strange magicks to quickly erect the structure.

As I watched the building take place in the village of PaxOku I was informed by Lord Dudley that all those who had aided the livery guild in the previous months would be rewarded with a station in their boundries. Those towns who had not aided the guild but wished for their own station would need to acquire a recommendation from one of the other townships. So while the opportunity to help the livery guild has passed, the building of a station is still possible.

Happy New Year!

New Haven, Trammel, Chesapeake (PaxLair Times) – New Year’s Day, 2011 – by Ashlynn – Many of us spent the evening infront of the bank as midnight crept upon us, celebrating the coming of the new year across several time zones!

A lot of great people were present to celebrate the new year!

There was much laughter and cheer and some really terrible jokes but the company was exceptional and Lady Phoenix had come prepared with a crate of chairs, tables, party hats and musical instruments. So happy new year to everyone and best wishes for the months ahead!

An Orkmas Celebration

PaxLair City, Felucca, Chesapeake (PaxLair Times) – December 28, 2010 – by Ashlynn – The Christmas celebrations have continued with a visit to PaxLair City by an orc known as Sunta Clompz (and his olive-skinned assistant) who felt the desire to wish us “Habbi Orkmas”. It was certainly a nice surprise to have an orc visitor that didn’t want to kill us.

Before we were to receive our presents from Sunta Clompz though, were first had to endure an orcish tale of some sort and then participate in a game that involved painfully falling on solid ice several times, much to the amusement of our hosts no doubt!

Sunta Clompz spins us a tale in orcish.

Unfortunately, it is my observation that orcish storytellers do not appear to visit the same schools as the famous tailspinners from Tokuno or the bards of Britain and the language barrier also posed a problem for many. Thankfully however, Lady Winmere was there to translate for us and we were gifted with a tale in the true spirit of Christmas that involved dead elves, stew and orcs dreaming of a visit from Sunta Clompz (I hope no one tells the residents of the orc fortress that he decided to visit us instead as it would start a war I suspect).

After dancing down the ice with everyone else (and falling for no one made it to the end outside of a little practice session), we were all finally able to choose a bag or a box with the best performing contestants in the game (congratulations Lord Jamlyn and Lady Phoenix!) getting first choice of the special boxed gifts.

The celebrations were then followed with a little official alliance business and some announcements regarding the anniversary, but everyone had been reaching for the “Crate of Christmas Cheer” at this point so it all gets a little hazy for everyone.

Lady Phoenix did mention a New Year’s Eve celebration at Haven Bank beginning at 11:30pm by the eastern clock and everyone is of course welcome. So the celebrations are not over yet!

Somewhere Warm, Chesapeake (PaxLair Times) – December 25, 2010 – by Ashlynn – Best Christmas wishes to everyone from Ashlynn here at The Times! I hope everyone has a wonderful day. I would have included a picture of something like a Christmas Ankh but I’ve not drawn one!

Anyway, Merry Christmas!

Guardians Gate Celebrates Anniversary

Guardians Gate, Trammel, Chesapeake (PaxLair Times) – December 18, 2010 – by Ashlynn – Guardians Gate laid on a lavish celebration this evening to commemorate the fourth anniversary since the founding of the city.

Most participants in the archery contest were exceptional marksmen.

Though I arrived (un)fashionably late due to recent illness, I was able to watch the latter half of the archery contest, stowaway on one vessel during the boat race, participate in the cow-tipping contest, and see a few of the door prizes being given out.

Of the events I was able to take part in and watch, all were fun, the cow-tipping contest being particularly amusing and creative. I was even a member of Governor Winfield’s winning crew in the boat race, though I doubt I would have been missed was I not, my own sailing skills being non-existant as they are.

The Governor narrowly managed to beat all other contestants in the boat race!

Given the success of this years event and the wonderful variety of events, we can’t wait to see what next year brings! All the best to Guardians Gate!

Aryslan Holiday Xtravaganza

Aryslan, Felucca, Chesapeake (PaxLair Times) – December 13, 2010 – by Shef – Hello Sosarians, Elves, and Gargoyles, and any other sentient beings in this realm. The Town of Aryslan will be holding it’s first annual Holiday Extravaganza. On December 20, 2010 starting at 8pm EST Aryslan will be opening its festival doors.

There will be a wide range of games, attractions, and fun for all players. There will be three structures linked for the festival. The Holiday Hall will hold many attractions. Those attractions will include a 3 story maze. This maze is not kids follow the path puzzle. Many twist and turns could lead you right back outside wondering what happened.

Games of chance for those festival attendees hoping to get rich can wager their gold a 1 in 3 odd of winning at the local “Aryslan Lottery Vendor”. The dice game “High Low” can be found at a booth upon entering the Festival Hall. This is a game for those die hard gamblers hoping to double to quadruple their gold.

A newish game will be making a appearance at this festival. If you’re an adventurer that knows great success comes with great risks then the “Pick Your Box” game is for you. Upon choosing your box, and ready to open it to see what you won beware their maybe a surprise for failure.

Although do not fear the holidays are about fun and family and friendship, perhaps maybe a spark of love at the Mistletoe Auction. Sosarians, Elves, and even Gargoyles can put their hearts and pride on the table at this entertaining event. What you must ask yourself my readers is “Who in this realm is worth the most for a single kiss.” We may find out at this event, and maybe even true love maybe found.

Now know what my readers are thinking, “Wait Aryslan is a felucca town!” That’s right my friends and what felucca town would not have a PvP tournament. If you’re the kind of player who would rather trust his pets in a fight then themselves, then don’t fret. Following the PVP tournament will be a pet tournament, no band aids, no heals, just your pet against one of your fellow Sosarian’s.

We in Aryslan know some just can’t endure attacking one of their peers. For those who wish to enjoy watching the creative fighters and the mighty pets may do so with a full course buffet in a pair of comfortable box seating areas above the battle ground.

Aryslan takes pride in trying new and different things; we have devised another game, one which will allow us to use one of those cursed creatures that plague our beautiful realm. Upon pushing the little creature onto the teleporter the fun begins. So be nice to those orcs, or goblins, or maybe even a troll. You never know when they might be landing on the teleporter you just bet on.

The final attraction of the evening will be a grand prize raffle; from a vendor in the festival hall you can buy chances to win a Tangle. Yes that’s right I said a Tangle, it doesn’t matter how many are sold it will be given away at the end of the extravagant evening.

We in Aryslan hope you can make it out to our Holiday Xtravaganza, on Monday the 20th starting at 8pm EST.

A Mysterious Act of Arson

East Britain, Trammel, Chesapeake (PaxLair Times) – December 8, 2010 – by Ashlynn – A apparent act of arson has come to the attention of your diligent reporter in the past few days, being as it is located quite close to the worn and aged Statehood Sepulchre.

The debris appears to be the remains of a larger structure.

Located just outside of East Britain beside the lake of Castle Blackthorn can be found the burnt out ruins of a house or hovel, and most curious of all, a firepit presumably left by whoever set it. Who is responsible and whether it is related to the recent turmoil in the land is unknown, but I implore anyone with any information to come forward and enlighten us all on this event. One that has happened so close to my own home!
