HOLLY BLOODHAND DECLARED AN OUTLAW

Events at the Royal Council meeting took an unexpected turn this week when when one of the first acts by King Blackthorn was to remove Holly Bloodhand as Governor of Vesper and declare her an outlaw.

The wretched pirate had been involved in attempts to seize power in both Cove and Minoc, duping several innocent parties into aiding in such ambitions. It is also well known that she had disbanded the original Vesper Guard and replaced them all with her former corsair associates.

Furthermore Holly had been implicated in the dissapearance of Willow, daughter of the previous governor. Evidence in the matter had been mounting and was formally presented to the King following his proclamation. It was at this point Holly decided to make a quick escape, eluding the guards present with an impressive dodge and fleeing into the city.

Holly is now a wanted criminal and is to be hunted down by the Royal Guard. She is extremely dangerous and citizens of the realm should not approach her without aid.

AMBITIONS IN MINOC

20140822holly1It was but a few days earlier that the pirate made an attempt to seize power in the City of Minoc. The Governor of Minoc was absent – apparently as part of a long holiday in the restort of Fortune’s Fire – and the town was full of unemployed sailors who had previously been working for Captain Coronius.

Holly’s wicked scheme was simple – dupe volunteers in to helping her rid Minoc of “pirates”. Instead Holly killed the remaining leaders of the corsair band and took control in an attempt to use them to occupy Minoc.

Still this endeavour was an element in her undoing as some took it upon themselves to investigate ships and properties belonging to the pirate while she was distracted – investigations that turned up damning evidence.

ARREST OF CALEB SOUGHT

Self-proclaimed Mayor of Cove Caleb has also been declared an outlaw by the King and is to be arrested or killed on sight. It is well known that the port of Cove is governed by a small town council and has never had any kind of mayor proper. Such a position was simply manufactured by the pirate governor in an attempt to seize more power in Northern Britannia.

Unlike Holly, Caleb is a cowardly individual but skilled in subterfuge. It is believed he has suffered some injuries to both forearms – injuries which may have left scars.

LADY IVY REINSTATED AS GOVERNOR OF VESPER

King Blackthorn quick to recognise that a power vacuum in the City of Vesper could only lead to more instability declared that Lady Ivy is to be reinstated as governor of the city until the next election.

Though it is known that Lady Ivy has links of her own to the underworld of Britannia, it is also a fact that under her leadership the city had seen some civic improvements and – more importantly – was a stable place free of the sort of chaos of the past few months.

We can only hope a sense of normalcy returns to the city and Governor Ivy is able to continue as before. However with Willow still missing and Holly believed to be involved, one might question whether or not this is leverage the outlaw has against the new city leadership.

TRIBAL BERRY CONTEST TO END TOMORROW

20140813berriesIcky Rotblossom of Pitmuck recently announced a contest to gather as many tribal berries as possible and bring them to the Goblin Emporium on the island. The contest has been running all week and it was also announced there would be grand prizes for the three individuals who gathered the most.

Today is the last opportunity would-be contestants have to turn in their fruity blue bounty and a ceremony will be held in Pitmuck tomorrow to announce the winners.

STRANGE TOWER SEEN ON TOKUNO VOLCANO

Several locals from the neighbouring realm of Tokuno claim to have seen a tall tower shrouded in black mist on the edge of the central mountain’s lava dome. Witnesses say that the tower is ruinous in appearance appears to be supported by several colossal iron chains. These witnesses also report several hostile undead nearby.

However merchants from Tokuno I have spoken to dismiss such claims and state stories of the tower are an old local folktale that has simply captured the imagination of foreign visitors. True or not I suspect errant adventurers will discover soon enough.

OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Pitmuck Boat Race – Next month on the 7th of september at 8pm EST the rancid town of Pitmuck will be holding a boat race around the island. It is rumoured that the boats used in this race were previously in use collecting night soil from the City of Britain.

Vesper Auction – Postponed last week, the auction will take place tonight at 9pm EST before resuming the regular schedule. This means that there will be two auction weeks in a row.

Icky’s Tribal Berry Contest

Pitmuck, Trammel, Chesapeake (PaxLair Times) – August 13, 2014 – by Ashlynn – Icky Rotblossom of Pitmuck appears to be in dire need of tribal berries for some strange and no doubt foul concoction she plans to brew. Whether this is a part of some strange experiment to create an alternative cure for pinworms, or a sinister plot to poison innocent necromancers I can’t say. But they are needed – and she is willing to pay.

20140813berriesThe contest is a simple one and last for two weeks between the 12th and the 23rd of august. Whomever can bring the greatest quantity of tribal berries to the Pitmuck Emporium will win a grand prize of 1 million gold pieces.

There are also runner up prizes of 500,000 gold pieces for second place, and 250,000 pieces for third place.

Good luck to those seeking the reward. Hopefully this is not a part of any sinister plot – you don’t want to end up in King Blackthorn’s dungeon afterall!

Realm News – Volume 5, Issue 4

realmnewsbannerv5-4PaxLair Press, Chesapeake (PaxLair Times) – July 21, 2014 – by Ashlynn – The search for the missing daughter of the former Governor of Vesper continues this month and while a certain individual is implicated in the disappearance, more shocking revelations concern that individual’s attempts to annex the town of Cove!

VESPER GOVERNOR ATTEMPTS TO SEIZE COVE

Holly Bloodhand, infamous corsair and now elected Governor of Vesper has dispatched several bands of Vesper “guardsman” to Cove in an attempt to take control from the ruling Cove council. Under the pretense of protecting the town from orcish raiders, and along with the aid of a corrupt Covian citizen by the name of Caleb – who claims he is the town’s mayor – Bloodhand’s guardsman now have a significant presence inside the walls.

The guardsman themselves can barely be called that as most of them are little more than hired thugs from Vesper – the majority of the official town militia being disbanded following Bloodhand’s election Victory. A protest has already been lodged with the King at the most recent council meeting where the power of the Vesperians was partially curtailed by royal decree.

I can only say this is an outrageous turn of events and its effects are already being felt within the town. Many citizens have already complained about the thuggish behaviour of the so called guardsman and I fear this may lead to blood in the very near future.

BLOODHAND IMPLICATED IN DISSAPEARENCE

20140721searchforwillowIn related news Holly Bloodhand has been implicated in the disappearance of one Willow Covedweller. Following events some nights ago it is almost certain she was responsible as clues to her whereabouts led us from the docks of Vesper to a recently constructed fortification near the town of Cove owned by the villainous pirate.

I accompanied the group led by Ivy of Vesper who were investigating the matter. I must admit I had some doubts as to whether this truly was a missing persons case – the former governor having the sordid reputation she does. But of this I am now certain it is as we were eventually attacked by Holly herself who summoned a great sea daemon once the clues led us to the nearby orc fort.

Several lockbox keys and other items were recovered from the orcs position and unsurprisingly many of these fitted containers held inside Governor Holly’s small fortification. Sadly any other clues to Willow’s current whereabouts were nowhere to be found.

It is my assertion  that not only is Governor Holly responsible for the kidnapping but that she is also recruiting orcs as well as pirates to her cause. I believe it is time for the King to get involved though I fear he may require more evidence first. Regardless I would suggest that any citizen with a shred of virtue flowing through their veins avoid the City of Vesper for the time being.

PITMUCK DERBY RESULTS ARE IN

20140703derbystartline4Late. Sadly due to a few missing pieces of movable type and the delay of the wooden engravings this article is a little late coming. But as a participant in the race I can say it was a great success!

Several racers participated on a variety of sickly looking nags seeking to win the grand prize but as always only one person could take first place! The rules were simple – race around Pitmuck Island’s coast and collect a “token” from each marker point along the way. The first one to finish was the winner! The rules did not explicitly forbid the use of a bola but I felt it best not to find out.

The race results were as follows (with jockey and horse listed):

  • Victor – Untapable   1st
  • Lauren – Brownie   2nd
  • Brian DeSpell – Shadowclone  3rd

And the other racers were:

  • Niva – Ridgeback
  • Ivy – Vesper’s Spirit
  • Nanoc – Phlying Phoenix
  • Murdoc – Ricky Bobby
  • Engel – Little
  • Ashlynn – Nashandra

Congratulations to the winner and runners up!

HUGE BEAST ATTACKS DELUCIA

Volunteers of the Royal Guard brought down an enormous beast earlier this month that ran amok in the Frontier Town of Delucia.

Rumours came from the isolated and somewhat backwards village of Papua that a huge creature had been spotted in the wilds devouring everything it could find. A troop of guardsman dispatched to investigated had all vanished except for one and the Royal Guard were requested to investigated.

Following a trail of devastation left by the creature the Royal Guard eventually caught up to the beast as it attacked the walls of Delucia – smashing aside the gates and a hastily erected barricade and killing a number of people. With much effort the creature was brought down but at great cost.

I could speculate that someone or something sinister is behind the attack but the truth is that all manner of beasts dwell within the lost lands and such an event should not come as a shock to those living there.

IN OTHER NEWS…

Strange rumours of a transport vessel laden with baked produce are said to have been shipped to the orcish fort near the town of Cove. Some have said that that the crew were unaware of the vessel’s true destination and were shocked to find they had made port at the fortress, while other individuals claim they were simply honouring a contract made with the filthy creatures.

Beware a new publication out of Cove believed to be the work of one “Mayor” Caleb. This would-be mayor who once sought position on the town council and who has now divided the townsfolk prints only lies and falsehoods.

Trinsic Seed Planting and PaxLair Meeting

PaxLair Statehood, Chesapeake (PaxLair Times) – July 15, 2014 – by Ashlynn – Due to the length of tonight’s Royal Council meeting the planned seed planting and PaxLair Alliance meeting have been postponed until tomorrow evening!

At 8pm by the eastern clock we will all meet in the City of New Magincia at the flower gardens to sow seeds which will eventually grow into plants to be transplanted to the City of Trinsic as part of Governor Phoenix’s city beautification project.

Following the seed planting (and perhaps a brief break depending on the time) the PaxLair meeting will take place in Shame dungeon. Lord Nanoc will be providing a gate to the specific spot where the meeting will be held. The denizens of Shame may well be hostile although the meeting location is said to be a safe area.

I hope to see you all there!
